I think I may be the last person to receive my swap (thanks Australia Post!) but it finally arrived! Thank you to
tjs_whatnot for an excellent goodie box on a cold winter day.

Upon opening the brown paper parcel, the first thing was a collage box with X-Men art. Not just any X-Men art, but early 90's Blue and Gold era X-Men (Jim Lee and Andy Kubert art), which were the first series that I actually got to follow in real time, as I had just moved to the city for university and there were actual comic shops, not just whatever I could find in the $1 bin at the newsagency! Honestly,
tjs_whatnot could not have picked a better era to collage. Also, the handle on the drawer is a cleverly selected "X" from the title!

Inside! The drawer slid open to reveal a hand-embroidered kitty! It's a soft purse with a velcro closure and an adorable expression...

...but I could feel that there were more things inside! The lining fabric is adorable, too - when we had bookshelves made for our house, we staggered the end of one bookcase so cats can jump up it and run along the top with the books, so this fabric really charmed me.

Perler bead tiles! This is a craft I have no experience with at all, so it was very cool to get to handle some. It's the Defenders initials and Hogwarts house colours: Matt for Ravenclaw, Luke for Hufflepuff, Danny for Gryffindor and Jessica for Slytherin. The Slytherin beads have a pattern in them and all melted together it looks like snakeskin, very appropriate.

Last of all, the yellow tissue paper contained a set of magnets! I am suspecting by this point that
tjs_whatnot has seen my fridge, which is covered in fannish magnets! These X-Men and Avengers (Jean Grey, Cyclops, Sersi, Black Knight and Scarlet Witch) are also from the early 90s, in the X-Men/Avengers crossover "Bloodties" where Acolyte Fabian Cortez thinks it would be a great idea to kidnap Magneto's granddaughter Luna to try to impress Magneto, which, seriously dude, no. This storyline had all the classic crossover fights that you might expect, and it was the first Avengers comic that I read, so I am thrilled to have it watching me from my fridge!
Thanks so much to
tjs_whatnot for this excellent treasure trove through the
homemade2homemade swap! I had a great time and will look out for another round!
