Hi! I have been doing Yuletide for a long time now, so I am very happy with whatever you would like to write, with the exception of my DNW list. I am also happy for you to include as many or as few of the nominated characters as you wish. If you're not sure about anything, or want to do a crossover with another fandom and need to check if I know it, just ask my partner
st_aurafina - she can keep a secret!
Things I enjoy: stories about female characters, plot, character interaction, casefic, character competence, gen fic, queerness in general, exploring a canon world. I also like OCs as a way to expand the canon universe, so if that's a direction you want to go, that would be great. AUs are awesome – both in the sense of a deviation from canon and a completely different world – as long as they're not mundane AUs. Coffee shop no, superpowered coffee shop yes.
Do Not Wants: non-con or rape; non-canon permanent character deaths (canon deaths are fine, or an OC death for a casefic); mentor/student, adult/teen or adult/child sexual interaction; E-rated fic with under-18 characters; zombies; apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic AUs; mundane AUs; cancer or other serious non-fictional illness even if it was canon (see exception in Magic for Liars request). For Marvel canons, no Thanos snap or anything related, please. No COVID-19 mentions please.
The Defenders (TV): any
I enjoyed this show so much! I have requested any character for this fandom because, honestly, I would be thrilled with a story about any or all of them. The thing I liked best about the show was all these attempted loners (plus Danny the sunny extrovert who still occasionally has fits of brooding!) having to work as a team. I would love to see any two or more of them working together, whether it be solving crime, fighting evil or trying to share a motel room without murdering each other. This includes Elektra – she constantly tried to get Matt onside (though murdering Stick and drugging everyone didn't help!) and seeing her interact with any of the Defenders – maybe Jessica? – would be superb. Feel free to bring in any other characters as well, since I feel that having all of them stuck in Misty's precinct together but barely interacting was a terrible waste of an opportunity! And seeing more of the Five plotting against the world and (even more so) each other would be great, too.
Feel completely free to ignore any subsequent canon (Daredevil S3, Iron Fist S2, Luke Cage S2 and Jessica Jones S3), or indeed any development post-Defenders if you want. I have watched and enjoyed all four shows, but they have quite different dynamics to The Defenders, and it's the interaction of these characters that I'm looking for here. Feel free to include anyone else from this universe other than The Punisher S2 characters, as I didn't watch that season. Ignoring the ending or setting more teamwork in a nebulous timeframe is entirely welcomed!
Magic for Liars - Sarah Gailey: Ivy Gamble
SPOILERS AHEAD
More magic! More magic! Ivy as narrator was great, especially in regards to her relationship with Tabitha and her expectations of how mages behaved, but I really want to see more of this world. All the mages seemed quite certain that the teenagers were just regular teenagers, casual about the magic occurrences like the defaced lockers, and yet what Alexandra was doing (and what Tabitha was doing) was quite beyond their expectations. Why is this? Is magic relatively new in this world, or now very scientific rather than mystical, as Dane hinted? Or is there a sudden magical advance that nobody expected, maybe with the alleged prophecy? Or are these teachers just too casual in their expectations? Rahul does seem like a pretty chill guy, and Tabitha understandably distracted, but Mrs Wells the healer doesn't seem likely to be easily fooled. I would also be interested in the more mystical, less scientific side of what they do, or how the two intertwine. Or even how Tabitha got to the school in the first place: is there a teacher at every school with training to spot magically gifted children, or was this a fluke? If it was a fluke, what's the usual procedure if magic isn't in your family?
I've asked for Ivy here, but I would be happy with any kind of world-building or extension on the relatively small world of the novel - maybe word gets around about Ivy's detective work and she's asked to help in another magical situation, or Tabitha isn't comfortable at the school anymore and tries to leave that world behind and spend more time in Ivy's world. I also enjoyed the casual queerness in this novel, so would be happy to see this part of Tabitha's life impacting Ivy if you want to write that.
One of my DNWs is cancer and other real world diseases. Obviously it was a plot point in the novel, and is part of Ivy's background, but I would like mentions kept to a minimum.
New Mutants: Danielle Moonstar, Illyana Rasputin, Kitty Pryde
Old fandom of my heart, it's so exciting to see people into it again! I have requested my three favourites, but I would honestly be so happy with anything about this team (and Kitty who is NOT! an X-Baby!) I happily ship Illyana/Kitty as well as Kitty/Rachel and Dani/Xian, but I'm not bothered with any or no ships here. I love the early part of their adventures as a team just after Illyana has escaped Limbo as a teenager and joined up; I love the period with Magneto as their teacher. If you write in the early canon era, seeing them have to combine schooling with powers training, fighting their enemies and negotiating their way in a hostile world...but also having sleepovers, dance class and friends and family was a wonderful thing in the comics and fic that focused on any adventures (canon or not) while still keeping the feeling of their community and friendship would be perfect. Mentoring by any of the X-Men around at this time is very welcome (or unwanted mentoring attempts by Emma Frost!) If you write in later canon, please leave out any mention of Rahne's relationship with a student because that was just weird and squicky. I am up-to-date on current canon but please don't feel obligated to include anything past the era you want to write in. It's the team spirit that I want here!
Even though it's canon, I would not like a story focusing any of the canon deaths here unless it's part of the "everyone comes back" X-Men ethos. Mentioning them in passing is fine.
Star Trek: Picard: Raffi Musiker
I loved Raffi the burnt-out idealist who nonetheless leaps into space with Picard once more. Absolutely anything with Raffi would be great, but I would particularly love an adventure, whether before, during or after her Starfleet Intelligence days. Her tentative relationship with Seven of Nine would also be delightful, or anything about her life out in the desert where she was totally alone and yet somehow connected to 100% of the gossip.
An AU fic where Picard's original plan for the Romulans did work, or broke down in a different way could be very interesting for Raffi - would she still be burned out and outcast, or did she take a different path?
I would not like a focus on the breakdown of her family unit, but mentioning Gabriel and his father or having them present if the story is set in an earlier time is fine.
While I am up to date on all the various canons, I am absolutely not a stickler for canon events! You are very welcome to ignore whatever bits of canon you dislike or don't make sense for your fic; alternatively, including weird trivia that you like is very welcome.
Thank you for writing for me!
