I've had a lot of crazybrain problems recently - a combination of changing thyroid medication, the resulting restless legs impeding sleep, and delightful anxiety attacks. [livejournal.com profile] comicsbigbang was not going to happen so I've dropped out. I'd love to be writing something for [community profile] dark_agenda's Dark Drabblefest (character of colour drabbles in Remix-eligible fandoms) but there is absolutely no writing happening at the moment, though I have been reading! Here are two recs from the [community profile] dark_agenda challenge, although neither of them are actually drabbles.

Remaking Tradition by [livejournal.com profile] alara_r: Star Trek XI/AOS, Uhura-centric - Uhura/Spock, with Kirk and T'Pring, rated PG-13. A delightful revision of "Amok Time", featuring a wonderful twist on "this is the tradition of my people" that will forever steal the angry-making potential of that phrase. And I've read a LOT of Claremont comics where everyone except for white Americans conveniently has "traditions of their people" with "an honour all their own." I feel much better about them, now!

Ask What Answer Can I Find by [personal profile] alexseanchai: Supernatural, Jake's sister and her girlfriend. (Jake was the Special Kid who won the Special Kid Battle at the end of Season 2 - played by Aldis Hodge, no less!) I always wondered - in a show so much about the hurts of families and generations of love and terror - why the sister for whom Jake fought, took a demon's deal, and died, never showed up. Well, here she is, mourning her missing brother by fighting for his goals. Not power or wealth, but knowledge and memory.
