The [livejournal.com profile] comica_obscura mods have hinted that it might be helpful to post about our requested characters and why we requested them.
Here's mine.

1. Destiny (X-Men) (with or without Mystique is fine)
A criminally underused character. Precognition is one of those Totally Cool But Troubling powers that mean a character will almost certainly be obscure! Destiny is an elderly terrorist, blind, Mystique's beloved partner, Rogue's foster-mother of sorts, and totally different to the rest of the Brotherhood of (Evil) Mutants. And she calls herself Irene Adler (Sherlock Holmes reference)! What's not to like? She was only in the comics for a short time before foreseeing her own death and, indeed, being killed in order to save Mystique's life. Her precognition was of the "likely outcomes" variety, rather than the "set in stone" kind. I find Destiny's version to be more interesting, because there's always a sense of playing roulette with fate.

2. Amanda "The Wall" Waller (Suicide Squad) (adventure would be great, but I'm happy with anything)
Suicide Squad was my first real comic love, and Amanda Waller was a highly impressive character. She was, at first, able to work with the government and with the loose collection of disreputable heroes and all-out villains that she pulled together. Then she slowly took the law more and more into her own hands, eventually accepting that she had to pay for this. The freelance years were also great, as she messed with international politics and the warped minds of her teams. Amanda is ruthlessly intelligent, and while she is deeply compassionate, has the default position that she knows best. Also, she can stand up to and bargain with Batman!

3. Black Widow (Marvel Misc: Avengers, Daredevil, her own miniseries) (adventure would be great, but anything's good)
The Black Widow has either terrific storylines, such as her current miniseries and recent Daredevil appearances, or is a slutty, angsty, background character. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground. She is the default character for a Marvel hero to have as a girlfriend, as far as I can tell, and her interactions with other characters are often defined by this role. But she is not a young or naive woman, and she has been through several changes of political and ethical alliances. Why? What motivates her apart from the desire not to die?

4. Zora (Powers) (anything in the current (since dead) incarnation, not all that reincarnation stuff)
Zora, we hardly knew you! Powers is immensely fun, and Zora's power was extremely cool. I don't know about this threesome with Retro Girl and Diamond, but I'm sure there's a reason apart from reader titillation... isn't there? She was capable, independent, visually cool and tried to help Walker even when he didn't want it.
