Hmm. Very mixed. And who would have thought that Bobby would turn out to be the Third Summers Winchester Brother?

There were things I absolutely loved about this, even though it was horribly dragged down by Sera Gamble's ongoing pacing issues. Way too talky - that's what fanfic is for, exploring the emotions behind the actions.

Ruby's immediate fear of angels - and her admission that she hadn't actually met one - was terrific, and I loved that Meg called Sam out on his truce with Ruby as she "burns through" women's bodies.

Castiel was also great, for two reasons. The first was his immediate and obvious limitions - there's a limited number of angels, they can't be everywhere, they make mistakes, they are obviously not directed by their omniscient ruler or one with him. The second reason was the rather brutal threat he made to Dean - that he would throw him back into Hell. This is real Old Testament stuff - worship ("respect") me or suffer.

The deviation from formula - staying at Bobby's house, Bobby in every episode - is really getting to me. That's not Supernatural, that's the Bobby and W-Boys Show, a laugh a minute! I do love Bobby, but, you know, Sam and Dean can do research too. Bobby needs his mystery (and some private space). The Winchesters need the open road.

The ghosts themselves were great - and I liked that they're (mostly, at least) recently dead people whose bodies the Winchesters did not salt and burn. I would think people like Jess and Bobby's wife would have been properly laid to rest and perhaps not accessible to Lilith. What I didn't like was the endless, endless angsting and Dean-bashing. You know, there's two brothers in this show, and I'd like to see both of them struggling with faith and regret. I was not impressed that the one female hunter was killed in her underwear, though at least she was smart (just overwhelmed) and she was the hunter whose corpse we did not see in bloody detail, so I suppose that's fairly even.

Also, I'm pissed that Henricksen is really dead, even though I did like Dean calling him "Victor". But, most of all, after seeing that title, I'm sad that we didn't get to see Dean praying for his period to start before the other girls' did!

And more Supernatural creepiness - I went to copy the file onto my Lacie AV drive, and this was the share ratio:
