Hooray! I don't have lymphoma!

Background - I had thyroid cancer, so I have regular scans to check that all is normal. The lymph glands in my neck were abnormally enlarged, and it's possible for thyroid cancer to spread into those glands, which is Very Serious Business. The kind of malignant thyroid cancer I had, follicular, is highly treatable if it remains in the thyroid, but once it spreads, it's difficult to cure. It is also unlikely to recur, but it's remotely possible. So, when my doctor saw enlarged lymph nodes right next to my thyroid, it was time for a CT scan. The scan showed everything was fine, but I do have a wretched cold. Apparently my ongoing issues with throat infections - which have been getting better - indicate that my immune system might be affected by my thyroid issues, but this is for future follow-up, not now.

After a week worrying that I have lymphoma, my lovely cat Baggins started throwing up everywhere, and then went really quiet and subdued. He's at the vet, on a drip for his dehydration, and it looks like he might has a gastric inflammation, though they don't know why. The vets will X-ray him this afternoon to exclude a foreign object, but since he's in no pain and has produced faeces and urine, they don't think it's likely. He had to stay at the vet overnight last night, and we went to visit him. He had hidden under a blanket, right in the corner of his cage, and had made himself completely invisible, which is quite a feat for a cat his size!
ETA: His X-rays are fine and he's getting a little better, so we can bring him home very shortly! Poor little guy! He'll be so happy to be home

The only thing I *haven't* been worrying about are the bushfires - we've now had good rain, and the fire season is almost certainly over for the year. It's been a terrible year so far, and I really hope for more from the rest of 2009.
