Surprise! No surgery today!
We waited until 10:30, then a doctor (who was actually from the next small town!) came to tell us that the surgery was probably off. The surgeon popped out of the Mysterious Doctor Doors a little bit later to say it was definitely off. His first patient of the day (I was the second) had complications, and then the Emergency Department had filled up and put a hold on all the remaining beds in the hospital, including mine. It's all rescheduled for two weeks from now, September 7th. I'll be the first patient on that day, which is great.
After that, I bought and drank an entire bottle of water to ease my dehydration headache, we cried a bit from letdown, and
st_aurafina's lovely mum came to pick us up, take us to her house and feed us soup. She also made us coffee, the consumption of which made us feel a lot better. Three hours later, we've made it home through the hail, the sideways rain and the dastardly potholes (only some of which have been filled in) and now we're home with the cats, hooray!
Even after all of that chaos, I'm still sure that we're having a better day than the patient with surgical complications and all the people in Emergency. Thank you to everyone who commented on this morning's post - it was lovely to have your messages coming in while I waited, getting thirstier by the moment.

I had thyroid surgery a few years ago and it had to be postponed three times, so I feel for you, all the preparations and stuff is annoying as hell.
Wishing you the best!
PS:
I also first read "pooped" instead of "popped" lol.

Glad to hear (from your other replies) that you at least got something out of it.
Hope it goes well next time!

That's frustrating, but at least you'll be first next time?
